I am a contemporary silversmith and jewellery artist with a studio located on my 50 acre property in the village of Snug in Southern Tasmania.
I work predominantly in sterling silver for the way it catches the light and makes for an impressive contrast of dark and light in shadow. Tiny silhouettes from nature are found in many of my designs. The images change and evolve to nurture the aesthetics as each piece is in creation to form a unique, one-off piece.
My style is delicate, elegant and strong. I usually look to the natural environment for my inspiration which I see as an unlimited source of natural beauty and ideas.
Alison Raven is a contemporary jeweller who lives and works in the rolling hills of Melbourne’s north east. Her rural surrounds and the abundance of native flora and fauna inspire her practice and her background in printmaking is reflected
A degree in graphic design, a career in publishing, a lifetime as an artist working across a range of media, including drawing, photography, mosaic and printmaking, led Alison to an Advanced Diploma of Jewellery and Object Design at Melbourne Polytechnic. Her work primarily utilises fine silver, titanium and niobium; experimentation and the joy of making keeps her work fresh and always evolving.
